Email Cleanup — How Categories Work

Cleanup organizes your inbox using Gmail’s official categories so you can delete in bulk safely.

📂 What are the categories?

Gmail sorts emails into:

1. Social

Notifications from Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, etc.

2. Promotions

Sales, marketing emails, newsletters, discount codes.

3. Updates

Order confirmations, invoices, bills, reservations.

4. Forums

Group discussions, community updates, subscriptions.

5. Spam

Unwanted or suspicious emails.

Cleanup uses the same categories as Gmail — not its own system.

🔄 Why do emails show slowly sometimes?

Gmail uses pagination, so Cleanup loads:

  • First set of emails

  • Then more when you scroll

This keeps the app fast and reduces loading time.

🛡️ Are email deletions safe?

Yes:

  • Emails go to Gmail Trash

  • You have 30 days to restore

  • Nothing is permanently deleted from Cleanup directly

🔑 Privacy note
